1Connecting USB mouse to ANYKA tablet? Empty Connecting USB mouse to ANYKA tablet? Fri 26 Aug 2011 - 14:37

I dropped my ANYKA tablet over a stone... Rolling Eyes
Result: the touchscreen is now destroyed.

Incredibily, the LCD is still working fine!
Is it possibile to attach an USB mouse to the device, considering that it has an USB wifi module soldered inside?
What about the pinout?

Any clue?

Aren't 10 "many"?!?

How do I find all of them? Looking for "USB" does not seem a clever thing to do.

How good are your soldering skills?

jumpjack

enough to solder 4 pins large like those ones.

Maybe try to solder a USB hub there? So the Wifi is not lost.

jumpjack

Do you think???
I'm asking which is the pinout.
If I knew where to sold each wire, I would have done it a week ago...

Pinout? It is really easy, just measure with multimeter when the tablet is powered on. One outer pin is +5V and other outer pin is GND. Middle pins are data. You must be sure not to swap the 5V and GND as then it will damage the USB device.

Put a better picture of the USB pins and I can tell you which pin is which. There seems to be an additional USB port?

please note this is not properly a "PC", it's a touchscreen WinCE ebook reader/ tablet, and it has no host USB ports:

It has 6 pins and not 4. Is it a USB device at all?

jumpjack

One pin is not connected at all.
I googled for the code written on the chip some months ago, and I found out that it's should be an "unpacked" wifi USB dongle. Maybe not...? Shocked

Should be, it is similar module as in other netbooks.

Me fool Very Happy The other 2 pins are antenna/LED Embarassed

So the connection should be:
https://servimg.com/view/15899082/16

Starting from left (near J4 mark): GND/Data+/Data-/Vcc(+5V)
Check with multimeter the connectivity of left pin does it connect to other ground points. Desolder the wifi and it can be more clear to you.

Maybe you can tell about your device in this topic as it seems rather unique:

very cool info thanks!
I'll try frying all... I mean I'll try soldering the pins. Smile

jumpjack

I tried.
Multimeter does not rad any voltage on any pin, but I tried anywhere
No luck, mouse does not even light up.
I guess the USB port is not powered until I turn on the wifi to save battery, but I can't turn on wifi without mouse, and I can't install mouse if wifi is not started....
I'm stuck.

Can you make a high-res picture of both sides of tablet board. Maybe there is some other USB port connections possible.

jumpjack

Sorry for delay, here they are my pics:

Nothing on other side. :-(

Isn't there a side usb port in picture? For anyka netbook there are 2 types of USB. 1. type is where Wifi module is connected and a flash disk can be connected/OR USB cable for reflashing. 2. type is where HID devices like mouse and keyboard can be connected. Connecting mouse to 1. type USB doesn't work for netbook. So maybe same applies for this tablet, that mouse can't be connected in place of Wifi.

jumpjack

no external USB ports are visibile in this device, neither I could find anything "hidden" inside.

But what is the connector on side near audio jack? HDMI?

Is the white connector to the left of Flash chip used?

jumpjack

You're right, these pictures suck, I'll try to make better ones.
Only external connectors are power, headset, mini-USB cient.

So what happens if connect mouse to miniUSB?

jumpjack

It's physically impossible, it's 4 mm large. And the client USB is an OUTPUT port! Would the mouse start moving around? ;-)
