Hi, good news for us. New Opera Mini 5.1 works fine on our mini netbooks with Anyka.
You can find cab vwerion on opera site Browsers/Opera for phones. (I installed version for Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC).
For better view of buttons on bottom of Opera I must hide Taskbar

F1 - menu
F8, F9 - shortcuts menu

Can you post a link to the download page, please? I located a download link for Opera Mini 5.1 on the Opera site, but what I downloaded looks like a Java program (lots of .class files). Isn't version 5.1 a standalone version? (5.0 is - I've already tried it and it opens, but isn't fully functional.)

You must choose Opera Mini 5.1 (Windows Mobile 2003 Pocket PC)

Try unpacking it with MSCEInf:

http://www.codeppc.com/telechargements/msceinf/msceinf.htm

The "hlx" file you refer to is, I presume, Setup.xml, which can be read on the device using Haali Reader, or on a Windows PC using Internet Explorer. (You can also change the file extension to .txt to read it as a text file.)

thanks cegeek. i unpacked files with 7zip. there was the hlm file and a load of numbered files. Will the app you recommended unpack any differently? i am wondering if the trick is to place files on sd card? or does cab file need to be unpacked on anyka netbook. presume app you mentioned runs on anyka?

Yes. MSCEInf will unpack the files into their correct names (not the numbered file extensions like from a raw extraction like you've done), and also creates the folders where the files are supposed to go on the device. In this case, you'll get a Program Files folder with another folder inside called Opera Mini 5. Just copy that latter folder to an SD card, and you can run it from there (though I recommend copying it into the \Flash2 folder to free up the SD slot for other cards).

thanks again ce geek. Presume MSCEInf is a windows program that will run on a pc (the wife's facebook machine!) And that i should unpack there and ship over via usb stick? will give it a blast. Ps. did i read somewhere that these netbooks need unlocking before any foreign program can run?

Many thanks for the informatioon, I have just installed this on a Allfine PC703 and it works brilliantly. Very Happy

Does the windows taskbar still hide when opera is opened? I couldn't get rid of it.

parcgwyn

Yes you still have to hide the taskbar, in order to access the buttons in Opera.

You can still reach the buttons even if the taskbar isn't autohidden before launching Opera Mini. Part of each button extends a bit higher than the taskbar.

parcgwyn

Just tried that but not enough of the button is above the task bar to read it, so you need a good memory to remember what each button does.

If the taskbar is hidden, you can not show the task bar when Opera is running.
