When I bought my missus this netbook, she was used to opera speed dial on the main pc. Having failed to get opera running on CE (...for now), I decided to fake the speed dial in PocketIE:

open an account with only2clicks, set up your speed dial buttons as normal, (add a search bar as well).

Use (on firefox) 'save page' to save your finished only2clicks speed dial. then Copy :
home.php.files
home.php.htm

To somewhere on your flash2 drive on the netbook.
Load PocketIE, go to 'view internet Options' and point 'Start page' to the 'home.php.htm' file you just copied over.
Now you should have opera style speed dial, and as a bonus, you'll still have access to the original
only2clicks speed dial on your main computer as well. The CE version does'nt look quite as good (no backdrop picture), but it's still handy, and loads fast.

Of course, maybe you have Opera working on the Anyka....in which case, upload it pretty please?

hi,khephren, i have uploaded a 8.6v opera( http://rapidshare.com/files/385907228/Op1.rar ) , you must exact op1.rar to \Storage Card\, keep opera.exe in \Storage Card\OP1\, don't change path!

Thanks for that Admin. Unfortunetly, I physically can't fit an SD card in the slot, the slots to small. I'm having to rely on using the back USB port and a card reader.

if you want to change the default Installation Path.you have to open opera.dll by hex editor( HxD Hex Editor http://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/ ) , Search Unicode String "\Storage Card\OP1\" and replace them with "\flash2\opera8.60\" .
Do the same changes for \opera\opera.ini

No luck,

Window 'Opera' could not be found

Line 12 (\Flash2\opera8.60\Opera.mscr):
WaitFor("Opera",10)

Maybe I don't have enough memory? I only have 25MB left after boot.
Thanks anyway!

run opera.exe not opera_orjg.exe

Yeah, I did. That launches the script that fails.
I think I have about 20 different versions of various browsers, and none work!

..Still I got monkey Island running on SCUMM, so at least something has gone right today!

you can run opera mini 5.2 through the phoneME java program. It's very fast (does not do you tube though). There's even instructions to create a desktop shortcut that launches the midlet directly:

http://www.cs.kuleuven.be/~davy/phoneme/?q=node/22

this bit:

Another approach to running a midlet without installing it is to run it directly through a startup file, e.g. myapp.lnk, with the following content:

255#"\phoneme\midp\bin\arm\runMidlet.exe" -classpathext "\midlets\App.jar" "\midlets\App.jad" MyApp

You may need to change the path names to the binaries and midlet.

One thing to note with PhoneME:

It seems to expect the Java folder to be in 'My Documents' to run. As we know, our My Documents folder wipes with each reboot.

Most CE apps will quite happily allow you to use this reg hack to move my docs:

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows CE Services\FileSyncPath = "\Flash2\My Documents"
(REG_SZ string, no quotes)

So i'm looking to solve this. If I have to, i'll get a mort script to copy the Java folders (after boot) from:
Flash2/My Documents/Java
to:
My Documents

i'll report back on this...

I have Opera Mini and PhoneME on my netbook and although the browser is speedy it seems very unstable and crashes frequently so I have given up and gone back to IE for now...

I have just tried this too Juergun and it works!

Very happy - finally a usable browser for our netbook, I tried many different websites and although some of the java/css heavy ones took a while to load it did not crash once so seems very stable.

Most websites load very quickly compared to IE.

you guys are lucky. An SD card won't even fit in the slot (misaligned)
MMC card fits, but is not detected PHM device manager does'nt show an SD slot Sad
