I've tried fiddling in the registry and even tho you can change it, a quick check with ipconfig /all reveals that the network hasnt changed, even after a shutdown and reboot.
For interest sake I used TRE.exe and navigated down to this key---
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\RT28701\Parms] <----my radio card is the Ralink RT2070, yours may be something else.
"NetworkAddress"="00-e0-4c-94-16-37" <--- this is the MAC "string value", which must be entered with the - between numbers.
"BusNumber"=dword:00000000
"BusType"=dword:00000000
"OpMode"=dword:00000000
"WirelessMode"=dword:00000005
"Channel"=dword:00000001
"CountryRegion"=dword:00000005
"CountryRegionABand"=dword:00000007
"RtsThresh"=dword:0000092b
"FragThresh"=dword:0000092a
"Encryption"=dword:00000000
"AuthenType"=dword:00000000
"AutoReconnect"=dword:00000001
"NetworkType"=dword:00000001 <------ possibly either Ad-hoc or Infrastructure?
"SSID"="RT2870AP"
"BACapability"=dword:07034020
"TransmitSetting"=dword:0002ba15
"ProviderName"="Ralink Technology, Inc."
"VendorDesc"="RT2870 802.11 b/g Wireless Card."
"WEPKeyUse"=dword:00000001
"WEPKey1"=""
"WEPKey2"=""
"WEPKey3"=""
"WEPKey4"=""
Im guessing that because of the XIP (execute-in-place) copy protected nature of WinCe6, none of the changes made in registry will be persistent.
Perhaps I should also mention that the 802.11g driver is a generic RaLink driver, RT2870.dll which is why you cant always search the registry for the ic chip id.
